Sports Injuries

Diagnosis and treatment for ligament and joint injuries from sport, with rehabilitation planned around getting you back.

What brings people in

  • A knee that gave way and swelled immediately
  • A shoulder that came out and has not felt right since
  • An ankle that keeps giving way
  • Pain at one spot that has not settled with rest
  • A pain that stops you returning to your sport

What is done here

  • Diagnosis and imaging where it changes the plan
  • Splinting, bracing and immobilisation
  • Arthroscopic surgery where needed
  • Ligament reconstruction
  • Structured rehabilitation and a return-to-sport plan

What the visit is like

You are examined on the day, told honestly whether it needs surgery, and given a rehabilitation plan with milestones. If an operation is not needed, nobody is pushed toward one.

Questions about this treatment

Do all ligament tears need surgery?
No. Many heal and stabilise with a properly graded rehabilitation programme. Surgery is for people whose joint remains unstable or who need to return to a sport that demands it. That difference is explained for your case specifically.
When can I return to my sport?
On milestones, not on calendar weeks. Strength, movement, control and confidence are each tested before you go back. Returning early is how a repair is undone.
Should I rest or keep moving?
Early, gentle movement usually helps; loading through sharp pain usually does not. You will be told which movements are safe and which to avoid, in writing.
